The series Die Ene Patiënt (That One Patient) appeared first in 2017 in the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant as a weekly story, eventually there were over 100 installments published each one of them accompanied by an illustration. Written by the Dutch author Ellen de Visser the series is based on her interviews with physicians and their confessions on that one patient who made an enormous impact on their lives.
The stories were put together in a book by Ambo|Anthos Uitgevers in 2019 and reissued in 2022. It was translated in English and German and became an International Best Seller.
In 2022-2023 the series was ran again by the Belgium newspaper De Morgen.
